Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Supported independent living (SIL) is help and/or supervision of daily tasks to help participants live as independently as possible, while building their skills. It is the paid personal supports and is most commonly used in shared living arrangements.
For SIL to be the best option for a participant, NDIA takes the following into consideration before funding the participant:
- goals and living arrangements in the new homes
- the support required for daily tasks to assist in living independently
- other alternative supports that may be a better option
- if the needs are significant for person-to-person support beyond the supports they already receive
At Hiba Healthcare, we will work with the participants along with their support coordinators (where available) to develop a roster of care (RoC) using the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits Assistance with Daily Living prices. We will submit the RoC to NDIA to help decide the type of supports to be included in a participant’s plan.
